Tutorial - Richie - 21/10/20
One to one tutorial with Richie.
I talked through where my project was to date. I have devised a model for the process of the conversations /workshops that I hold. We talked about how I got to this through the interventions that I had held. My latest stage has been developing the model so that it had a circular action. Now my next step is to test the model with the community and stakeholders.
From my discussion with Richie I realised that I had lost the live food element. I had got too involved in the story and discussion. My next plan of action with the testing of the model is to bring back the live food/spices. After all the biggest thing that came out of my very first intervention in the CSM hallway was the comments that the smell had drawn them over. The smell of the spices was what triggered memories. Also the chance to handle and smell the spices as they were there and available.
Plan of action:
Set a date to have a zoom workshop with all my key stakeholders.
Send them in advance a pack containing the ingredients for a live cooking session.
We can then spend 20 minutes doing live cooking. 10 minutes eating. 60 minutes discussion using my model.
I had an amazing breakthrough. Just after speaking with Richie I received an email from my stakeholder at Ealing council informing me that a community space was available for free in the area that I was researching. The local church had two community rooms with a kitchen that they were offering for free use to arts and culture activities. I emailed straight away and put my bid in. I was called back the next morning and presented my project and proposed use of the space. I was verbally accepted straight away as my community initiative aligned with their church ethos of helping bonds with the local diverse community.
I am planning to hold live workshops in one space. I have to research how I can make it conform with the current health guidelines and devise the session. The plan is as above: spend 20 minutes doing live cooking. 10 minutes eating. 60 minutes discussion using my model. I will record the session and get feedback from participants. I will then use this as material for my Food-Connect website. This site will then host a whole load of real recipes from local people with stories.
