Library and Food-connect
I spoke with Jan , arts and culture director at Ealing Council. He passed me to Kofi, the area community organiser. He was really helpful and mentioned that Ealing Library could be an interesting focal point for the Pitshanger street event. Even more so because it is now being managed by the local community committee. He put me in contact with Tan Afzal the local community liaison representative. After speaking with her she informed me that the person to speak to is the head of the local Traders association - John Martin - who is now in charge of the running library. I spoke to John and he was really happy to help buy also informed me that the library may not open until January.
My plan was to use the Library as the focal point for my global food and culture sharing festival. It is just the perfect nucleus because it houses books on food, cultures and storytelling.
I could get the librarians to curate a selection of relevant books for the event.
The event would take place along the whole street. Drawing on the cultures that are represented. with events and information for cultural sharing.
